Friction Bar — The specialisation course for friction elements on zirconia bars

During this course, we give you a model with a pre-sintered zirconia bar and guide you through the realisation of a friction element in Tecno Med resin. We will show you how to fix the zirconia bar on the titanium bases, parallalise it, save it in the software and then how to design and mill the friction element and the tertiary structure. Finally, we bond the friction element to the resin superstructure layered with Gingiva-Composites, which we then place on the zirconia bar generating the right retentive friction.

Day 1 (all-day)

  • Cementation of the titanium bases in the sintered zirconia bar
  • Parallelisation, polishing and finishing of the zirconia bar
  • Software and Hardware overview of Zirkonzahn CAD/CAM system: Zirkonzahn.Archiv, scan process, design and parameters information of the friction element  
  • Milling test of the friction element 
  • Explanation of the CAD/CAM Bars software module 
  • Milling of the friction elements in Tecno Med

Day 2 (all-day)

  • Evaluation of the milling result 
  • Scanning of the milled friction element 
  • Software and Hardware overview of Zirkonzahn CAD/CAM system: parameters setting and realisation of a virtual wax-up 
  • Information about Zirkonzahn.Nesting software and nesting of the secondary structure in a resin blank 
  • Start of the milling process 
  • Visit to the Zirkonzahn headquarters in Gais

Day 3 (all-day) 

  • Evaluation of the milling result 
  • Elaboration and polishing of the secondary structure 
  • Gingiva layering with Gingiva-Composites 
  • Work finalisation
  • Bonding of the secondary structure with the friction element 
  • Final polishing of the secondary structure and general review of the contents learned 
  • Resolve outstanding issues
